SYMPTOMS
When a table includes both shading and borders, you may experience one of
the following behaviors:
Case 1
When you apply shading to a cell below a cell that has a border, the bottom
border will disappear. This behavior occurs when you apply shading using
the Borders toolbar.
Note that this behavior does not occur when you use the Borders And Shading
command on the Format menu.
Case 2
When you apply different percentages of shading to your table rows and a
grid border to the table, and then perform a sort on the table, the border
may disappear. This behavior occurs when you apply the borders and shading
by using either the Borders And Shading command or the Borders toolbar.
This behavior does not occur when all rows have the same percentage of
shading.
WORKAROUND
To work around this problem, follow the appropriate method for your
situation.
Case 1
Do one of the following:
- Instead of using the Borders toolbar, click Borders and Shading on the
Format menu.
-or-
- Apply the shading before you apply the border.
Case 2
Perform your sort prior to applying borders and shading.
