SYMPTOMS
In Microsoft Query, if you use the Create Database button in the ODBC
Microsoft Access Setup dialog box to create a new database, the database
still exists on your hard drive, even if you choose Cancel in the ODBC
Microsoft Access Setup dialog box.
CAUSE
This behavior occurs because the new database you create using the Create
Database dialog box is not removed when you cancel the Data Source setup
procedure. Note that a new Data Source is not created when you cancel the
driver setup dialog box for a given data source.
WORKAROUND
To work around this problem, you must delete the unwanted Microsoft Access
database file (you can do this from File Manager or from the MS-DOS). Note
that the Microsoft Access database file is created with a .MDB file
extension by default.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products
listed at the beginning of this article. We are researching this problem
and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it
becomes available.
