".." Doesn't Move to Parent Directory in File Open with UNC |
Q121932
If you are currently connected to a universal naming convention (UNC)
referenced directory, such as \\servername\sharename, and you type ".."
(without the quotation marks) in the File Name box and click OK, two
periods will appear in the Directories list. (To locate this option, choose
Open from the File menu.) By contrast, typing two periods in the File Name
box when you are connected to a local directory or a network drive
designated by a drive letter, such as S:, correctly selects the parent
directory.
For instance, if the Directories list shows the following list
\\server\share
users
ann
bob
joe
and you type two periods in the File Name box and click OK, the Directories
list will show the following:
\server\share
..
users
ann
bob
joe
