SYMPTOMS

When copying large files from a NetWare server to Window NT Advanced Server version 3.1 using the Gateway Server for NetWare, any one of the following error messages may appear:

  • Out of disk space
  • Reached EOF
  • File in use
  • Unable to copy
  • Abort, retry, ignore
NOTE: Copying from Windows NT Advanced Server version 3.1 to a NetWare server or to a Windows NT version 3.1 client computer over NetBEUI, TCP/IP, or NWLink works fine.

CAUSE

This problem occurs if you are using the NE3200 network adapter driver for the Intel EtherExpress 32 network adapter. Intel FAXBack article number 6458 states the following:

Windows NT (NDIS) EE16 YES

Windows NT includes a NE3200 driver which has been tested and will be supported by Microsoft. Based on customer reports the EtherExpress 32 card works in this configuration, but Intel has not tested it.

WORKAROUND

The driver for the Intel EtherExpress 32 network adapter for Windows NT is not available at this time. For additional information, contact Intel Technical Support at (503) 629-7362.

The Intel and NetWare products discussed here are manufactured by Intel Corp. and Novell, Inc., respectively, vendors independent of Microsoft; we make no warranty, implied or otherwise, regarding these products' performance or reliability.
