PRJ4: Outline Number Truncated in MDB |
Q122260
kbinteropWhen you export a Microsoft Project 4.0 for Windows file to a file in MDB file format, the Outline Number field is truncated to two digits before the first decimal point.
When you save a Microsoft Project file to a database file, the Outline
Number field is truncated because it is stored in a Number field in the MDB
instead of being stored in a Text field.
Note that opening the file in Access and changing the design properties of
the Outline Number field from Number to Text will not show the original
Outline Number information.
The WBS code field contains the default Outline Number and is saved to a text field. When this field is opened in Access, the WBS field contains the correct original Outline Number information.
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article.
