SYMPTOMS

Subscripted and Superscripted text formatted with the Lucida font may appear extremely small, may be positioned too low or too high and may print incorrectly. This behavior occurs when you choose the Subscript or Superscript option or when you use CTRL+= or CTRL+SHIFT+= to subscript or superscript your text.

The Lucida typefaces are available in the Microsoft TrueType Font Pack for Windows.

STATUS

We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.

WORKAROUND

Highlight the text you want to subscript to select it, and format the text using the following steps:

From the Format menu, choose Font.

Select the Font tab.

Specify a point size for the text--for example, 8 points.

Select the Character Spacing tab.

Select Lowered in the Position list for subscripted text or Raised for superscripted, and select a point size in the By list.

Choose the OK button.
