Milestone Costs Not Visible on Crosstab Reports |
Q122530
kbusage kbtoolIn Microsoft Project, if a milestone or any zero-duration task is assigned any type of cost (fixed or resource) this cost will not be printed in a crosstab report.
To work around this problem, change a milestone to a task with a very small duration. For example, change the milestone to a task with a 1m (one minute) duration. This change will have minimal impact on most types of schedules.
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
A crosstab report in Microsoft Project 4.0 is designed to spread costs
across time periods based on the duration and the start dates of the tasks.
Because a milestone is a zero-duration task, the crosstab report cannot
calculate the spread of cost, even though the milestone clearly has a start
date to place the fixed cost into the appropriate time slot on the report.
The crosstab report prints the task name, with no cost accrued during any
period of time.
