PRA: TAB During Network Setup Changes Installation Path

    Article ID: Q122713
    Creation Date: 10-NOV-1994
    Revision Date: 19-SEP-1996

The information in this article applies to:

    • Microsoft Access version 2.0

    SYMPTOMS

Moderate: Requires basic macro, coding, and interoperability skills.

When you are installing Microsoft Access to a network server or work- station, if you type a nonexistent installation path in the Path box in the Change Directory dialog box and then press the TAB key, the insertion point moves to the Directory box and the path you typed in the Path box is changed to the current path in the Directory box.

    RESOLUTION

There are two ways to work around this problem:

    • Type the installation path in the Path box, and then choose OK (instead of pressing the TAB key).
    • Select an existing path for installation in the Directory box.

    STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Access version 2.0. This problem no longer occurs in Microsoft Access for Windows 95 version 7.0.
