PRJ4: Text Boxes Missing from Gantt Chart

SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft Project, when you draw a text box on a Gantt chart and then copy it by pressing CTRL and clicking the box and dragging it to a new location, the copied box may not be visible on the print out or when you view the document in print preview.


WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, use either of the following workarounds.

Method 1

After the text box has been copied and dropped in its new location, move or resize the text box.

Method 2

Use the Copy and Paste commands on the Edit menu to copy and paste the box.

Method 3

Use CTRL+C to copy the box and CTRL+V to paste box.


STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article.

Steps to Reproduce Behavior

  1. Start Microsoft Project.


  2. From the View menu, choose Toolbars. In the Toolbars dialog box, select the Drawing toolbar, and choose Show. Close the Toolbars box.


  3. Click the Text Box button, and create a new text box on the Gantt chart.


  4. Press CTRL and select the text box. When you drag the text box, you will create a copy of the original box.


  5. From the File menu, choose Print Preview.


The copy of the text box will not be visible in print preview.
