Project Err Msg: "Routine Not Found" When You Choose Cue Card

SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft Project, when you choose Cue Cards from the Help menu, you receive the following error message:

Routine Not Found


CAUSE

This problem occurs with an incorrect version of the PROJHELP.DLL file.


RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, replace PROJHELP.DLL with the PROJHELP.DLL that ships on the retail version of Microsoft Project

To decompress the PROJHELP.DLL file, do the following:

  1. Place the Microsoft Project DISK1 in the floppy drive of your computer.


  2. At the MS-DOS prompt, switch to the appropriate disk drive. For example, if the disk is in drive A, type a:.


  3. Then type
    decomp projhelp.dl_ c:\windows\system\projhelp.dll
    where the path to the destination file is the path to the Microsoft Windows System directory for the computer on which you are running Microsoft Project.


    4. You receive the following warning message:
    Warning -- the file 'c:\windows\system\projhelp.dll' exists. Should I append to that file? Yes or No"
  4. Type n.


    5. You will receive the following message:
    Should I try to overwrite it? Yes or No?
  5. Type y.


    6. You will receive the following message
    Wrote 5200 bytes to output file 'c:\windows\system\projhelp.dll'
The Cue Cards should now work properly.
