PRA: Mouse Events in Form's Page Header, Footer Never Occur

    Article ID: Q123273
    Creation Date: 28-NOV-1994
    Revision Date: 01-DEC-1996

The information in this article applies to:

    • Microsoft Access versions 2.0, 7.0, 97

    SYMPTOMS

Moderate: Requires basic macro, coding, and interoperability skills.

The macro, function, or code specified in the OnClick, OnDblClick, OnMouseDown, OnMouseMove, or OnMouseUp property setting in a form's page header or page footer section does not run.

    CAUSE

Events in a form's page header and page footer section are called only when the form is printed or previewed, not when the form is opened in Form or Datasheet view. Because mouse events do not occur when the form is printed or previewed, code assigned to mouse properties in a form's page header or page footer section never is called.

    STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Access 2.0, 7.0, and 97. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.

    MORE INFORMATION

    Steps to Reproduce Problem

    1. Open the sample database Northwind.mdb (or NWIND.MDB in version 2.0)
    2. Open the Employees form in Design view.
    3. On the View menu (or Format menu in version 2.0), click Page Header/Footer.
    4. Set the page header section's OnClick property to the following event procedure:

            Sub PageHeader0_Click ()
               MsgBox "Page Header OnClick"
            End Sub

    5. View the form in Form view. Note that because there is no page header section to select or click, the section's OnClick property will never be called.
