PRJ: Consolidated Project Summary Task Not Displayed Correctly

When a file is copied in Microsoft Project using the Save As command, or it is copied or renamed from an existing project file outside of Microsoft Project, it will retain the original file's project Title.

In a Consolidated Project, by default, the Project Summary Task of each project is displayed to clearly identify individual project files. As a result, the Project Summary Task(s) may not reflect the respective file name(s) if the file(s) were titled differently.

To change the project's Title, do the following:

Microsoft Project 98 and 4.1

1. On the File menu, click Properties, and then click the Summary tab.
2. In the Title box, enter the title you want to use or delete the contents to allow Microsoft Project to use the file name as the title.
3. Click OK.

Microsoft Project 4.0

1. On the File menu, click Summary Info, and then click the Document tab.
2. In the Title box, enter the title you want to use or delete the contents to allow Microsoft Project to use the file name as the title.
3. Click OK.

1. On the Tools menu, click Options, and then click the View tab.
2. Click to select the Show Project Summary Task check box, and then click OK.
3. On the project summary task (first task), enter a new name or to let Microsoft Project use the project's file name, delete the task name.
