PRA: Undo Buttons Unavailable Changing Combo Box Value

SYMPTOMS

Novice: Requires knowledge of the user interface on single-user computers.

When you modify a value in a combo box, the Undo Current Field/Record and Undo buttons appear to be unavailable although they are actually available.

RESOLUTION

Although the buttons appear unavailable, they are available and can be used.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Access 2.0 and 7.0. This problem no longer occurs in Microsoft Access 97.

MORE INFORMATION

This problem only occurs when you are using combo boxes. The Undo Current Field/Record and Undo buttons appear as they should when you are using other types of controls.

Steps to Reproduce Problem

Start Microsoft Access and open the sample database Northwind.mdb. (or NWIND.MDB in version 2.0).
Open the Orders form in Form view.
Note that the Undo option on the Edit menu and the Undo button on the toolbar are unavailable as they should be, because you have not yet made any change to the record.
In the Salesperson combo box, select a different name. Note that the Undo menu option and Undo button still appear unavailable.
Click the Undo button. Even though the button appears unavailable, the change you made in the Salesperson box is undone.
