LAN Manager 2.2c Setup Does Not Allow DNR Address To Be Blank |

The information in this article applies to:
SYMPTOMSThe TCP/IP protocol for LAN Manager 2.2c client that is shipped with Windows NT Server version 3.5 is enabled for Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP), which allows a user to use the DHCP server to provide IP configuration data. This data includes the IP address, subnet mask, default gateway, Windows Internet Name Service (WINS) server IP address, Domain Name Resolution (DNR) IP address and Domain Name Suffix. If a user enables the DHCP configuration, the user should have the option to leave these entries blank. However, the Setup program for LAN Manager version 2.2c does not allow the DNR IP address and the Domain Name Suffix entries to be blank.
WORKAROUNDTo work around this problem, follow these steps:
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed this to be a problem in LAN Manager version 2.2c. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
