BUG: Quick Screen in FoxApp under MS-DOS is too Big

SYMPTOMS

When you create an application by using the Application Generator (FOXAPP.APP) and use a Quick Screen created by the Screen Builder, the Application Generator creates a screen that is too big to run correctly under FoxPro for MS-DOS.

RESOLUTION

To work around this problem, change the display mode. This can only be done if your monitor supports different modes. In FoxPro for MS-DOS, the command "SET DISPLAY" enables you to switch between different display modes. The error message "Display mode not available" is displayed if an option isn't supported by your video hardware.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.

Steps to Reproduce Problem

1. Type "Clear All" (without the quotation marks) in the Command window

   in FoxPro.

2. Under the File menu pad option, select New.

3. The New dialog box will appear. Select Screen, and then press the New

   push button.

4. Once in the new screen, select Quick Screen from under the Screen menu

   pad option.

5. A dialog box appears asking for a database. Choose the CUSTOMER.DBF

   database located in the Tutorial irectory.

6. The Quick Screen dialog box appears. Select the OK push button, and

   press ENTER.

7. Under the File menu pad option, select Save As. Save the screen, and

   name it QuickScr.

8. Exit the Screen.

9. Under the Run menu pad option, select Applications.

10. A dialog box appears asking for an application. Select the New push

    button and press ENTER.

11. The Applications dialog box appears asking for a database and a screen.

    Select CUSTOMER.DBF as the database and QuickScr as the screen.

12. Generate and run the application.

Notice when you run the application that the screen takes up the majority of the desktop hiding the control screen from view.
