MXL5: Vertically Aligned Data Labels Printed Incorrectly

Last reviewed: September 12, 1996
Article ID: Q124109
The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft Excel for the Macintosh, versions 5.0

SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft Excel for the Macintosh, when you change the alignment of category labels in a chart to vertical such that the beginning of a word is at the top (on the Alignment tab of the Format Data Labels dialog box, select the lower-right option under Orientation), the labels are not aligned correctly when you print them. Instead of being lined up along the edge of the plot area, the category labels appear staggered at different distances from the axis line.

Note that the labels ARE aligned correctly in print preview.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the products listed at the beginning of this article. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
