SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft Project, when you choose Copy Picture or Copy Cell/Task for a Gantt Chart from the Edit menu, and you attempt to Paste it into a document in another application (for example, if you try to paste the chart into a Word or Write document), the full Gantt chart may not be pasted within the margins of the document.

CAUSE

If some of the columns in the table you are copying have been set to zero, Microsoft Project will copy to the clipboard the table but not the full timescale picture.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, set zero width columns to at least 1, and then copy and paste the picture again. (If you don't want extra columns in the table, delete the fields instead of setting them to a width of 1.)

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
