The information in this article applies to:
SYMPTOMSIn Microsoft Excel, when you press CONTROL+SHIFT+F to select the Font box, or CONTROL+SHIFT+P to select the Font Size box on the Formatting Toolbar, the font or point size text is not displayed in the Font or Font Size box.
CAUSEThis behavior occurs if you press CONTROL+SHIFT+F or CONTROL+SHIFT+P to select the Font or Font Size box immediately after you start Microsoft Excel. This behavior also occurs if you use either of these keyboard commands immediately after you choose the TipWizard button from the Standard toolbar (to hide or display the toolbar) or immediately after you select a tooltip. (Note that this problem occurs only if your TipWizard toolbar is in a docked position on the screen.) If you perform any other action in Microsoft Excel before using the keyboard to select either of these boxes, such as selecting a cell on a worksheet, this behavior does not occur. This behavior is strictly a display issue, and does not affect the functionality of applying a font or font size for the text on your worksheet.
WORKAROUNDTo change or view the font or point size in the Font or Point size box under the above circumstances, press the UP ARROW key or the DOWN ARROW key after you press CONTROL+SHIFT+F or CONTROL+SHIFT+P to display the list of fonts or font sizes.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
