SYMPTOMS

Text pasted into the Communications module is truncated. For example:
  • When copied from the Word Processor, Spreadsheet or Database, the text is truncated after 79 characters per line/row/record.
  • When copied from the Spreadsheet or Database, each column or field separator (a tab character) counts as one of the 79 characters.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Works version 3.0 for Windows. This problem was corrected in Works versions 3.0a and 3.0b for Windows.

MORE INFORMATION

The buffer in Works 3.0a and 3.0b was increased to allow up to 253 characters per line or row or record. In Works version 4.0x for Windows 95, the buffer was increased to allow 2046 characters per line, row or record.

In Works 4.0x, when the buffer is exceeded, the truncation occurs as follows:
  • When copied from the Spreadsheet or Database, text is truncated after 2046 characters per line/row/record.
  • When copied from the Spreadsheet or Database, each column or field separator (a tab character) counts as one of the 2046 characters.
