PRA: Groups/Totals Report Wizard Date Formats Are Inconsistent

    SYMPTOMS

    Novice: Requires knowledge of the user interface on single-user computers.

    When you create a report with the Groups/Totals Report Wizard, the format for Date/Time fields on the report is not consistent from the detail section to the group footer section.

    CAUSE

    This problem occurs only when you select the Ledger style for reports created with the Groups/Totals Report Wizard.

    RESOLUTION

    Open the report in Design view and select the appropriate format for the Date/Time field in the group footer section.

    STATUS

    Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Access version 2.0. This problem no longer occurs in Microsoft Access for Windows 95 version 7.0.

    Steps to Reproduce Problem

    1. Open the sample database NWIND.MDB.
    2. Use the Groups/Totals Report Wizard to create a new report based on the Invoices query.
    3. In the Available Fields box, select Country, and then choose the ">" button. Repeat for the Order Date, Quantity, and Freight fields. Choose the Next button.
    4. In the Available Fields box, select Country, and then choose the ">" button. Repeat for the Order Date field. Choose Next.
    5. In the Group box next to the Order Date field, select Month. Choose Next.
    6. In the Available fields box, select Freight, and then choose the ">" button. Choose Next.
    7. Select the Ledger option button and then choose the Finish button. Note that the Order Date field in the new report is formatted differently in the detail sections than it is in the group footer sections.
    8. View the report in Design view. Note that the format for the Order Date field in the detail section is Medium Date, while the format for the Order date field in the group footer section is blank.
