SUMMARY

The Shading command works differently on a text frame than on a WordArt frame. In a text frame, the Shading command will always control the color of the frame and has no effect on the color of the text. In a WordArt frame, the Shading command controls the formatting of the text. In addition, you can change the background shading of an entire WordArt frame just as you would a text frame by selecting the WordArt frame but not starting WordArt.

To change the shading of a text or object frame

Select the object by single-clicking it.
From the Format menu, choose Shading.
Select a background color and a foreground color.
Select a style from the Style box. The foreground color is applied as a pattern on the background color. Choose OK.

To change the shading of WordArt text

Select the WordArt frame by double-clicking it.
From the Format menu, choose Shading.
Select a background color and a foreground color. The foreground and background colors now apply to the text, not to the frame.
Choose OK.

To change the shading of the entire WordArt frame

Select the WordArt frame by single-clicking it.
From the Format menu, choose Shading.
Select a background color and a foreground color.
Select a style from the Style box, and then choose OK. The foreground color is applied as a pattern on the background color.
