Enlarge Value May Not Affect Printed Gantt Chart Timescale

SUMMARY

When the Enlarge value in the Timescale is set to a value other than 100 percent, and the Fit Timescale To Page option in Page Setup is selected, the Enlarge option is ignored when you print your project.


MORE INFORMATION

The Fit Timescale To Page option scales the timescale as much as possible to fit the Gantt Chart to the nearest page. To create examples that illustrate this feature, follow the procedures below.

Example 1

  1. Enter a 1d task.


  2. From the Format menu, choose Timescale, select the Timescale tab, and make the following changes:


  3. Major Scale Units: Weeks
    Minor Scale Units: Days.
    Enlarge: 200
  4. From the File menu, choose Page Setup, select the View tab, and select the Fit Timescale To Page check box.


  5. From the File menu, choose Print Preview.


The Gantt chart will appear on one page with the timescale at 200%.

Example 2

  1. Enter a 15d task.


  2. From the Format menu, choose Timescale, select the Timescale tab, and make the following changes:


  3. Major Scale Units: Weeks
    Minor Scale Units: Days.
    Enlarge: 200
  4. From the File menu, choose Page Setup, select the View tab, and select the Fit Timescale To Page check box.


  5. From the File menu, choose Print Preview.


The Gantt chart will still appear on one page, but the Timescale will be scaled to fit the page (the Enlarge setting is ignored).
