The information in this article applies to:

SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft Excel, if you create a custom text format by adding a character to the default "@" Format Code, you will be unable to format the text in the cell with more than one font or style.

CAUSE

You can use more than one font type in a cell only when a cell is formatted with the Text format (that is, the cell has the "@" Text format code). If you add any extra format code characters to the "@" format code, you will not be able to use multiple fonts in a cell formatted with that code.

WORKAROUND

To avoid this problem, do not alter the standard text format.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
