------------------------------------------------------------------------- The information in this article applies to: - Microsoft Publisher versions 2.0, 2.0a - Microsoft Windows operating system version 3.1 ------------------------------------------------------------------------- SYMPTOMS ======== If you print from Publisher to a Hewlett-Packard (HP) LaserJet III using the original Windows 3.1 printer driver, the Print TrueType As Graphics option will be unavailable (dimmed). (To locate this option, choose the Special Size option in the Page Setup dialog box before you create your publication. When you choose Print from the File menu, the Print TrueType As Graphics option is at the bottom of the Tile Printing Options dialog box.) CAUSE ===== Version 3.1.89 of the LaserJet III printer driver for Windows 3.1 incorrectly reports that the printer does not support this TrueType option. RESOLUTION ========== You can use the Print TrueType As Graphics option if you update your LaserJet III driver. After version 3.1.89, the version numbering for this driver changed. If you use the new LaserJet III driver version 2.1 that uses the Universal Printer Driver 3.1.2 or later, this option will be enabled. You can also print to your LaserJet III with the LaserJet series II driver that ships with Windows 3.1. MORE INFORMATION ================ The Print TrueType As Graphics option is useful for printing large text that may stretch across multiple pages. If this option is not selected, the following may occur: - If you use large size fonts (over 100 points), you may get a printer memory overflow message (error 20). - Letters that cross tile boundaries (that is, part of the letter prints on one page, and the rest prints on the next) may not print correctly or may not print at all.
