Updates in the Multimedia Viewer 2.0 Compiler

The updated Multimedia Viewer Compiler is compatible with RTF files created in Word for Windows version 6.0 and 2.x. The previous version of the Multimedia Viewer Compiler would lose all of the font information in a Word for Windows version 6.0 file and display the incorrect font for the entire viewer title. Multimedia Viewer Compiler Identification

The version number for this updated compiler has not changed from the previous version. The only way to distinguish the two compilers is by the file size or the date stamp. The updated compiler has a file size of 244528 bytes and a date stamp of 01-27-94. The old compiler as a file size of 218224 bytes and a date stamp of 03-22-93.

Multimedia Viewer Compiler Update Requirements

This update to the Multimedia Viewer Compiler is specifically for customers with the Microsoft Multimedia Viewer Publishing Toolkit, version 2.0.

Installation Instructions

Use File Manager or the MS-DOS copy command to replace the old WMVC.EXE file in your MVTOOLS directory with the new WMVC.EXE file from this Application Note. The MVTOOLS directory should be in your main Multimedia Viewer Publishing Toolkit directory (usually called MVPUBKIT).

Verify that the Viewer Project Editor knows where the Multimedia Viewer compiler is by choosing Preferences from the Edit menu. The full path to WMVC.EXE should be in the Path to Multimedia Viewer Compiler text box.
