SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft Word for the Macintosh, tabs with an underline leader are printed as a dashed line instead of a solid line.

This behavior occurs under the following situations:

You have the bitmap Palatino font installed. -or-
You have both the bitmap version and the TrueType version of Palatino installed.

WORKAROUND

Remove the bitmap version and install only the TrueType version of the Palatino font.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
