SYMPTOMS
You may receive the error message "Too many files open, or
invalid SHARE parameters. <PATH of file being saved>" after installing
the Works 3.0b for Windows Update.
RESOLUTION
Restarting Windows solves this problem.
MORE INFORMATION
Neither the UPDATE.EXE program nor the UPDATE.WPS file
mentions restarting Windows after the update is complete. The 3.0b Update
installs VSHARE.386 and makes an entry in the SYSTEM.INI file to replace
SHARE.EXE in the AUTOEXEC.BAT file. VSHARE.386 will be activated only after you
restart Windows.
NOTE: This does not affect Windows for Workgroups
3.11 because VSHARE.386 is included with this version of Windows and should
have been loaded already. This does not affect Windows 95 because Windows 95
uses a virtual device driver called *vshare.
