How to Dial Number in the Same Area Code as Long Distance

SUMMARY

If an access number with the same area code as your own area code is a long distance call, you must manually configure MSN, The Microsoft Network, to dial this number as a long distance call.

MSN automatically dials a telephone number with an area code the same as your own as a local call. To configure MSN to dial an access number with an area code the same as your own as a long distance call, follow these steps:

  1. Right-click the MSN icon, and then click Connection Settings.

  2. Click Dialing Properties.

  3. Click the Dial As Long Distance Call check box to select it.

  4. Click OK until you return to Windows.
