- Microsoft Excel for the Macintosh, versions 4.0, 5.0

SUMMARY

In Microsoft Excel version 5.0 for the Macintosh, the Paste Special dialog box is slightly different from the corresponding dialog box in version 4.0. This article lists the differences between the two dialog boxes.

MORE INFORMATION

Paste Link Option

In Microsoft Excel version 4.0, the Paste Special dialog box does not contain a Paste Link option. In Microsoft Excel version 5.0, the Paste Link option replaces the Paste Link menu command available in version 4.0.

Key Commands

In both versions of Microsoft Excel, if you have the Command Underline option enabled, each Paste and Operation item in the Paste Special dialog box has one underlined letter. The underlined letters are as follows:

      Letter Item
      -----------------

      A All
      F Formulas
      V Values
      t Formats
      N Notes
      o None
      d Add
      S Subtract
      M Multiply
      i Divide

In Microsoft Excel version 4.0, pressing one of the above letters twice in rapid succession has the same effect as selecting the option button that the letter is assigned to and then choosing the OK button. For example, pressing "v v" is the same as selecting the Values option and then choosing OK.

In Microsoft Excel version 5.0, this functionality no longer exists. Although you can still turn the Command Underline option on, pressing a letter key twice no longer activates that option and the OK button. You must choose the OK button or press ENTER or RETURN to dismiss the dialog box.
