XL5: Formats Copied Over Differently with Paste Special |
In Microsoft Excel 5.0, when you copy a range of cells and use the Paste
Special command to copy the cell formatting, the formats are applied only
to the selected range. Note that this behavior is different from the way
values and formulas are copied.
Note that this behavior is also different from the way Microsoft Excel 4.0
behaves when you copy formats: In Microsoft Excel 4.0, when you copy a
range of cells several columns wide and several rows tall, and you use
Paste Special to paste only formats, the formatting is automatically
applied to a range that includes the same number of columns as the copied
range.
This behavior is by design. To have more columns included in the destination range, you will have to select those columns before you choose Paste Special.
