The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft Excel for Windows, version 4.0
  • Microsoft Excel for the Macintosh, version 4.0

Page 297 of some versions of the Microsoft Excel "User's Guide 1," version 4.0, states the following:

On a worksheet, the list of names occupies two columns, one for the
names, and the other for the references. On a macro sheet, the list of
names has two additional columns. The first of the additional columns
indicates the macro type: 1 indicates a custom function, 2 indicates a
command macro, and 0 indicates neither. The last column contains the key
combination used to run the macro.

This information is incorrect. Macro sheets have THREE additional columns: the first indicates the macro type, the second indicates the key combination, and the third indicates the category. For example, if you paste names in cell A1 of a macro sheet, the pasted information would resemble the following:

A1: Name B1: References C1: Macro Type D1: Key combination E1: Category
