SYMPTOMS

When you try to compile with Microsoft Visual C version 1.1 while your Windows NT printer is configured to print to NUL, the following error appears:

All pipe instances busy

Under the same sircomstances with Microsoft Visual C++ version 2.0, the following error message appears:

Error spawning cl.exe.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, stop and restart the Spooler Service.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Windows NT version 3.5. We are researching this problem and will post new information here as it becomes available.
