SUMMARY
CAUSE 1
Internet Assistant Setup installed all of the files in the Word for Windows
program directory (C:\WINWORD or C:\MSOFFICE\WINWORD) instead of the
correct directories.
If installing Internet Assistant version 1. 0, this problem occurred
because your WINWORD6.INI file is missing, damaged, or does not contain
valid paths to file locations. For Internet Assistant version 2.0, the
registry must be updated to point to valid file locations.
RESOLUTION
To correctly install Internet Assistant for Word, do the following:
- Run Internet Assistant Setup to remove all components of Internet
Assistant for Word.
Internet Assistant Version 1.0
a. Using a text editor such as Notepad, edit the WINWORD6.INI file and
specify the correct paths for your files. For example:
[Microsoft Word]
USER-DOT-PATH=C:\WINWORD\TEMPLATE
PROGRAMDIR=C:\WINWORD
STARTUP-PATH=C:\WINWORD\STARTUP
Internet Assistant Version 2.0
a. Start Word and go to Tools, Options, File Locations and modify the
directories to point to valid file locations.
For example:
Documents = c:\msoffice\winword
User Templates = c:\msoffice\templates
Startup = c:\msoffice\winword\startup
- Run Setup again to install Internet Assistant for Word.
