SYMPTOMS
When a Gantt chart from Microsoft Project is pasted into Microsoft
PowerPoint, bar end shapes may lose their custom colors.
CAUSE
When Microsoft PowerPoint is used as an OLE client to embed a Microsoft
Project chart, Microsoft PowerPoint may recolor an object to match its
presentation slide settings. Bar start and end shapes (such as milestones)
are affected whether they are set as a bar style (Format Bar Style) or as a
custom bar setting (Format Bar).
WORKAROUND
To work around this problem, do the following to recolor the embedded
Microsoft Project charts in Microsoft PowerPoint:
- On the Edit menu, click Paste Special, and then click Picture.
- Choose OK to embed the picture.
- Double-click the embedded Microsoft Project Chart.
Microsoft PowerPoint brings up a dialog box that asks you if you
would like to convert the picture to Microsoft PowerPoint objects.
- Click Yes.
This procedure breaks the Project chart up into its individual components.
Now you can click on each bar and change its color individually.
