Emptying Recycle Bin on Read-Only Network Share

    SYMPTOMS

    When you connect to a read-only network share with Windows Explorer, you can empty the Recycle Bin shown on that share, even though it is a read- only share.

    CAUSE

    Although you click the Recycle Bin shown on the read-only network share, you see the contents of your local Recycle Bin. If you choose to empty the Recycle Bin, you actually empty your local Recycle Bin.

    STATUS

    Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Windows 95. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
