OFFICE: Setup Caught in Loop That Requests Disk 1 Then Disk 2

SYMPTOMS

When you run the Microsoft Office Setup program, Setup may ask you to insert Disk 1, then eject Disk 1 and ask you to insert Disk 2, then eject Disk 2 and ask you to insert Disk 1 again, and so on.


CAUSE

This behavior occurs if all of the following are true:

If all of the above are true when you run Microsoft Office Setup, you may get caught in a loop where the Setup program keeps asking for Disk 1, ejecting it and asking for Disk 2, ejecting it and asking for Disk 1, and so on.


WORKAROUNDS

To work around this problem, use any of the following methods.

Method 1: Turn PowerTalk off by doing the following:

Method 2: Remove (unmount) the CD from the CD-ROM drive.
