SYMPTOMS

When you run the Microsoft Office Setup program, Setup may ask you to insert Disk 1, then eject Disk 1 and ask you to insert Disk 2, then eject Disk 2 and ask you to insert Disk 1 again, and so on.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs if all of the following are true:

Your Macintosh has a CD-ROM drive

You restart your Macintosh while a compact disc is mounted in the CD-ROM drive

PowerTalk is installed and active

If all of the above are true when you run Microsoft Office Setup, you may get caught in a loop where the Setup program keeps asking for Disk 1, ejecting it and asking for Disk 2, ejecting it and asking for Disk 1, and so on.

WORKAROUNDS

To work around this problem, use any of the following methods.

Method 1: Turn PowerTalk off by doing the following:

From the Apple menu, choose Control Panels, and then choose PowerTalk Setup.

Under Collaboration Services, select the Off option.

Close the PowerTalk Setup dialog box, and restart your Macintosh.

Method 2: Remove (unmount) the CD from the CD-ROM drive.
