The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft Word for the Macintosh, version 6.0

SYMPTOMS

You may receive the following message in Word for the Macintosh from Symantec's Sam Intercept version 3.5 or 4.0, when printing or saving a document:

SAM INTERCEPT SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY ALERT. Sam detected an attempt to
bypass Sam Intercept. The file being affected is "Spool File 1." The
currently active application is "MS Word."

You can then choose Allow or Remember.

With either choice selected, the file should continue to print or save normally.

RESOLUTION

Updating to Word verson 6.0.1 for the Macintosh corrects this problem.

WORKAROUND

You can use the following steps in Sam Intercept version 4.0 to prevent this message box from appearing:

  1. From the Apple menu, choose Control Panels.

  2. Double-click Sam Interceptor.

  3. Choose the Preferences button.

  4. Click the Prevention icon (it looks like a needle).

  5. Choose the Custom button. This will list all of the settings options.

  6. Clear the Bypass Resource Manager check box.
