OFFICE: Error Installing to Pinnacle Tahoe 130 Drive |
When you run the Microsoft Office Setup program on a Pinnacle Tahoe Model 130 drive, you may receive the following error message
where <folder or drive> is the folder on the network from which you are running Setup, or the drive that contains the Install disk. Note that the filename, and the number of the Install Disk that appear in the error message may be different.A disk I/O error occurred while Setup was attempting to install the file shown below. This may indicate that a physical defect exists on your installation disk.
<folder or drive>:Install Disk 15:MacWord.68k
Microsoft Office 4.2 Setup was not completed successfully.
This problem occurs because the Macintosh operating system sees the
Pinnacle Tahoe Model 130 drive, which is an optical hard drive, as
removable media. Microsoft Office is not supported on an optical hard
drive. The Office Setup program will fail with the above error message when
you install Microsoft Office on the Pinnacle Tahoe Model 130 drive.
Note that this problem does not occur with the Pinnacle Tahoe model 100 or
model 230.
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
The Pinnacle Tahoe drives are manufactured by Pinnacle, a vendor independent of Microsoft; we make no warranty, implied or otherwise, regarding this product's performance or reliability.
