SYMPTOMS

You may receive the following Application Error when printing a pie chart from Works 2.0x for Windows to a Hewlett-Packard (HP) DeskJet 500C, 540, 550C, or 560C printer when using version 5.0 of the DeskJet driver

MSWorks caused a General Protection Fault in module DESKJETC.DRV at <XXX:XXX>

where <XXX:XXX> is the memory address. Additionally, the following system error message may be displayed:

EMM386 has detected error 06

RESOLUTION

Changing the Printout option in Printer Setup from Color Photo or Automatic to Color Graphics should resolve these problems.

To change the Printout option on the printer, do the following:

From the File menu, choose Printer Setup.
Select the appropriate DeskJet printer.
Choose the Setup button.
In the Printout section, select Color Graphics and choose OK.

NOTE: Changing the display driver to VGA does not correct the problem.
