Workstation Maintenance Mode Installs Application Locally |
Q126997
If you are using Microsoft Office for Windows, and you run Maintenance Mode
Setup for a workstation and choose to add an application, the application
will be installed locally. The application is installed locally rather than
as a workstation installation because Maintenance Mode Setup does not
detect what type of installation you have--applications installed through
Maintenance Mode Setup will always be installed locally.
For example, if you installed Microsoft Office with the Workstation as the
installation type and you run Maintenance Mode setup to remove Microsoft
Access and then run Maintenance Mode setup again to reinstall Access,
Access will be installed locally.
To work around this problem, choose Remove All, and then reinstall Office by running the workstation Setup again. (This workaround applies only if you removed the items through maintenance mode and later decide to add them back.)
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the products listed at the beginning of this article. We are researching the problem and will post new information in the Microsoft Knowledge base as it becomes available.
