  • Microsoft Excel for Windows, versions 5.0, 5.0c
  • Microsoft Excel for the Macintosh, version 5.0
  • Microsoft Excel for Windows NT, version 5.0

SYMPTOMS

A macro recorded to create a PivotTable using Count Nums as the function for one or more of the fields may create the PivotTable using the Count function instead.

CAUSE

The values for the xlCount and xlCountNums built-in constants are reversed.

WORKAROUNDS

To work around this problem, do either of the following:

  • Use xlCountNums in place of using xlCount in the macro to do a Count function, and use xlCount in place of using xlCountNums in the macro to do a Count Nums function.

    -or-

  • Instead of using the built-in constants use:

          -4113 for the Count function
-4112 for the Count Nums function

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article. We are researching this problem and will post more information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
