PRJ: Macro Hangs in DDE Conversation with Project |
Q127962
When you perform a Dynamic Data Exchange (DDE) conversation with Microsoft Project from another application, such as Microsoft Excel, the "Out Of Memory" error message may appear in Microsoft Project (if you have the windows arranged so that you can see the Microsoft Project window), and the macro that initiated the conversation may hang. Additionally, the following symptoms may occur:
An unexpected error occurred during command execution
This behavior occurs if you use DDE commands in another application to perform some action in Microsoft Project that causes this error message. For example, if you open a large file in Microsoft Project that causes the "Out Of Memory" error message to appear during a DDE conversation, the macro that you are using to communicate with Microsoft Project may hang. Note that this problem occurs when you use a Microsoft Excel version 4.0 macro, or a Visual Basic, Applications Edition, macro (in Microsoft Excel version 5.0) to communicate with Microsoft Project.
To work around this problem, avoid performing memory intensive actions in a DDE conversation with Microsoft Project. If the macro that you are running to communicate with Microsoft Project hangs, interrupt the macro by pressing the ESC key or the appropriate key for the application.
