Task Inserted Using DDE/OLE/Subscribe Not Linked With AutoLink |
Q127964
In Microsoft Project, when you insert a task in your project between two linked tasks using DDE, OLE, or the Subscribe feature, the task is not automatically linked to the preceding and following task even if you have the AutoLink Inserted Or Moved Tasks check box selected on the Schedule tab of the Options dialog box (version 4.0) or the Auto Link Tasks option set to Yes in the Preferences dialog box (Options menu).
When you select the AutoLink Inserted Or Moved Tasks check box
(version 4.0) or set the Auto Link Tasks option to Yes, when you insert or move a task within a list of linked tasks, the tasks are
automatically linked. For example, if Task1 is linked to Task3, and
you enter a task, Task2, between the two, Task1 is linked to Task2,
and Task2 is linked to Task3.
However, if you enter a task, Task2, between two linked tasks, by paste linking the task, linking the task as an object, or subscribing to an edition, the task is not linked to either task.
To work around this problem, use any of the following methods.
You can select the AutoLink Inserted Or Moved Tasks check box on the Schedule tab of the Options dialog box (version 4.0), or set the Auto Link Tasks option to Yes in the Preferences dialog box (version 3.0) to automatically relink tasks when you cut, move, or insert them. If you don't select this option, Microsoft Project does not create any task relationships when you cut, move, or insert tasks.
