Double Digits Entered in Print Dialog Box with DeskWriter

Last reviewed: September 12, 1996

The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft Excel for the Macintosh, version 5.0

SYMPTOMS

The Hewlett-Packard (HP) DeskWriter with driver versions A.01.00, A.02.00, A.02.00 AT, 2.1, 2.1 AT, 2.2, and 2.2 AT allow you to type in the number of copies to be printed in the Print dialog box; however, the number that you type in the dialog box is doubled (that is, "2" becomes "22"). This same problem occurs with the To and From boxes. The doubled entry affects the printed copies as well as the pages shown in print preview.

RESOLUTION

Because this behavior does not occur with later revisions of the HP DeskWriter driver (such as versions 3.0 and 3.1), changing the driver resolves the problem.

MORE INFORMATION

This problem does not occur with Microsoft Excel 4.0 for the Macintosh.

The Hewlett-Packard DeskWriter is manufactured by Hewlett-Packard, a vendor independent of Microsoft; we make no warranty, implied or otherwise, regarding this product's performance or reliability.
