PRB: Applications Using OLE 2.02 Features Don't Compile

The information in this article applies to:

SYMPTOMS

Attempts to build 16-bit projects that use features added to OLE version 2.02, such as OLE Automation '94 error interfaces, or that use platform independent type definitions, such as OLECHAR, fail on compilation.


CAUSE

The OLE header files included with the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article are OLE 2.01 header files.


RESOLUTION

Replace your header files and import libraries with the header files and import libraries included with the OLE version 2.02 SDK.


STATUS

This behavior is by design. When the products listed at the beginning of this article shipped, OLE version 2.01 was the current version of OLE.
