SYMPTOMSWhen you use Microsoft Excel on a Power Macintosh, it may take more time to open or save a file than it does when you open or save the same file on a 68K Macintosh.
CAUSEThis behavior occurs in Microsoft Excel for the Power Macintosh, on a Power Macintosh computer. This behavior occurs because, on a Power Macintosh, all of the file input/output (I/O) code is emulated. In some cases, when you open or save a file in Microsoft Excel on a Quadra 800, it may be up to two times faster than when you open or save the same file in Microsoft Excel on a Power Macintosh.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
