ACLCONV Root Directory ACLs Applied to Subdirectories

SYMPTOMS

Before you start the LAN Manager to Windows NT Advanced Server Upgrade, you must perform a complete LAN Manager server backup, which includes using BACKACC to back up the LAN Manager user account database [UAS] and the access control lists [ACLs]). When you run ACLCONV (the utility that converts LAN Manager ACLs to Windows NT permissions), root directory permissions (from a root ACL) are assigned to all subdirectories (even to those subdirectories that already possess permissions). As a result of having a Root ACL, subdirectory permissions on the LAN Manager computer (source) will be different than the subdirectory permissions on the Windows NT Advanced Server (target).
