MPRJ4: Spelling Files Not Removed Using Remove All

The information in this article applies to:

SYMPTOMS

When you run the Microsoft Project Setup program in maintenance mode, and you click the Remove All button, some of the spelling files are not removed.


CAUSE

When you run Setup in maintenance mode, you can choose to add or remove components, reinstall the Microsoft Project files using your previous installation options, or remove all of the Microsoft Project files. However, when you choose the Remove All button, not all of the files installed by Setup are removed.

Setup does not remove the following spelling files:

MS Spelling
US English Dictionary
UK English Dictionary
This behavior occurs because these files are shared application files; that is, other Microsoft applications such as Microsoft Excel or Microsoft PowerPoint may be using these files.


WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, if no other Microsoft Applications on your computer are using these files, you can drag the files that aren't removed to the trash after removing all of the Microsoft Project files.

STATUS
