SYMPTOMS
In the Retirement Planner Wizard in Money, when you enter unrealistic
numbers (that is, numbers that are extremely large or small) in
response to a given Wizard question, incorrect results may occur.
CAUSE
This problem is due to rounding errors.
For example, if you enter monthly contributions of less than 1 cent,
the Retirement Planner Report rounds the amount to two decimal places
and displays monthly contribution amounts of $0.00. However, Money
keeps track of the actual contribution, and after several years, the
total amount saved will begin to add up. Depending upon the variables
entered, the Retirement Planner may display a Total Nest Egg of a
sizable amount although the Total Contributions shows an amount of 0
(zero).
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Money versions 3.0, 4.0
and 5.0. We are researching this problem and will post new information
here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
