Q129002

The information in this article applies to:

SYMPTOMS

When you quit Microsoft Project, you may receive the following error message:

The global file, GLOBAL.MPT, could not be saved at its default location. Do you wish to save it to another location?

CAUSE

This behavior may occur when you make a change in Microsoft Project that is saved to GLOBAL.MPT if your GLOBAL.MPT file is located on a Novell NetWare server. For example, if you are running a workstation installation of Microsoft Project from a Novell NetWare server, and you create a new toolbar or toolbar button, you may receive the error message described above when you quit Microsoft Project.

Note that this behavior occurs even if you have Read/Write/Create/Delete/Modify (RWCDM) rights on the Novell NetWare server that allow you to modify or to delete the GLOBAL.MPT file from the MS-DOS command prompt.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the versions of Microsoft Project listed above.
